There are many toad species throughout the tropics, one being Campbell’s toad, Incilius campbelli. It assumes the “typical” toad niche and is often encountered. It is distinguished from other sympatric toads by 1) its distinct pattern of cranials crests typical of all members of the valliceps group and 2) it dark overall pattern with a very dark lateral stripe that extends from the side of the head to the groin.
