Blue land crabs are a delicacy throughout Latin America and the Caribbean where they occur.  It is not uncommon to see vendors standing on the side of the road holding a string of them up for sale.  The blue bucket above has some at a boat launch.  The color of the water wasn’t encouraging, nor was the odor!

As in all land crabs, they frequently visit the water to rehydrate their gills, and when reproducing.
