Belize leaf-toed gecko, Phyllodactylus insularis

When Phyllodactylus insularis was first described by Dr. James R. Dixon (coincidently Bob Thomas’s major professor), it was only known from Half Moon Caye, Lighthouse Reef Atoll, Belize.  It is now known also from nearby Long Caye, and reported from other cayes.

Note the square-tipped toes, a characteristic for the genus Phyllodactylus.
